The work at home entrepreneur has many obstacles to face. Typically the notion begins as we are heading off to a disgruntled job, leaving our kids behind to face a day that we are simply fed up with. It strikes us how wonderful it would be to leave behind the work a day world and provide for our families at home. Once the notion strikes, and it tends to strike hard, we begin the exhaustive search for the perfect work at home business.

How frustrating! There are literally thousands of businesses on one single website that are promising us time and fortunes. If we want to know what they are all about, we have to fork over some hard earned cash only to discover that the business plan is out of our reach or the product is marginal, or it just simply isn’t something we can do.

I love those work at home business plans that promise success in one month. You fork over your $49.95 to find out that if you want to make any money you have to chunk down thousands of dollars in advertising, seminars, and product. They guaranteed your money back, didn’t they? Ever try to get your money back from one of those work at home business plans? You have to provide proof that you did everything they told you to do, and often a few of those things can never be proven. How do you prove you followed the script when you finally got your first prospect, if you ever get there?

In the end you do what they wanted you to do in the first place and you eat the initially cost as well as any other cost you incurred and you are still stuck with the job you resent. Unfortunately, you can spend a lifetime going through the same revolving door while trying to find a better way. Yet you refuse to give up because you know that there is an answer out there somewhere.

The Work at Home Business Plan Success

You are right. There is a work at home business plan out there that will allow you to work your way to freedom in a relatively short period of time. In fact, there are many. The work at home industry has wised up a bit and the truly competitive business will give you all the information you need to know without forking over a dime.

These particular work at home business plans have discovered that people are tired of being ripped off and lied to, and they decided to do the right thing and actually talk to people. Informed people who make a solid business decision are more likely to stick around and build their work at home business. It just makes sense. Selling people information they can’t use only runs for so long before the general work at home industry becomes wise to the scheme.

Here’s a basic work at home business plan theory. It’s completely my own but I have found that it works. Anything that comes in through your inbox will make someone money. That person needs to have a lot of start up capital and be fairly internet business savvy, but all of those programs are making someone money. I have discovered they won’t make me any money. Unless you have ample start up capital they probably won’t make you any money either.

Home based business plans that you leave the comfort of your e-mail and go out onto the web searching for are harder to determine. They might make you money but chances are that most will not. Anything that is making promises and then asking for money up front is not a good way to go. How can you be expected to buy something without knowing what it is that you are purchasing? They are giving you no information except that they made some whopping $35,000 last month and you can too if you just follow their simple instructions. If a sales person showed up at your doorstep and tried to sell you something in a brown box but wouldn’t tell you what it was, would you buy it? Of course not! Why keep sending money into these programs that are making promises without giving you any information? Because there’s a touch of desperation for the person who really wants to build a home based business lifestyle. So we talk ourselves into taking chances.

Any solid home based business will at least tell you what it is they do to make their money. Some will tell you whether they are flipping properties (by the way check your local laws if that interests you, some states or counties have critical laws that make that impossible) or if they are marketing on e-bay or if they are selling candles. Most are learning to at least let you know the product or service up front. That’s a start.

An ethical home based business will give you contact information, whether it’s just an e-mail address or you receive a full address with a phone number. Some ethical home based businesses are starting to encourage people to ask questions before making their decision. That’s a benefit for everyone.

An ethical home based business may have lead capture page where you are required to insert you name and contact information before entering their website. This is a good thing. By doing this you will receive a phone call from an actual human being who can then answer your questions and give you a feel for whether this is a business that is right for you.

I ran a little test before writing this article. We’ll call it the ethical home business test. I entered my name and phone number in forty different lead capture pages and sat back to see how many people would return my call. Within two weeks I had received thirty eight phone calls regarding my interest in an ethical home based business. Out of those thirty only one of them was unprofessional and even in fact rude to me on the phone. The other thirty seven spent the time to answer my questions and all of them gave me both the company’s contact information as well as their own.

This is important because we are typically hesitant to enter our personal information on lead capture pages. However, while I did receive follow up e-mails, I did not receive any harassing phone calls or spam related to the experiment. Some of the ethical home based businesses were out of my price range and others did not interest me. But each and every one of them was up front about advertising costs.

Advertising your home based business is vital. You will not be able to get into internet marketing without factoring at least some advertising costs. Depending on the home based business you choose, some encourage fairly high advertising costs, but some are willing to show you ways to advertise with very little out of pocket. It might take a little longer to build your home based business, but the low cost and free methods do work. Advertising your home based business should be something you can comfortably fit into your budget. You are not looking to break the bank, you are looking to find a profitable home based business.

When factoring in your advertising costs for your home based business, also factor in the assistance you will receive from whomever is introducing you to the business. Are they really in it for the long haul or are they simply making promises to you based on what you want to hear? Talk to someone several times before deciding whether or not to join their home based business.

Just because a home based business doesn’t offer contact information or charges up front doesn’t necessarily mean they are unethical, but the unethical ones definitely don’t offer any information and always charge up front. The ethical, solid home based businesses out there that are still using old methods of recruiting are slowly making the shift to better methods because they are seeing that it works well for other. For you that means better quality decisions when looking for the perfect home based business for you.

That, after all, is the whole key to this picture. Most home based businesses will work, but finding the one that will work for you is an entirely different game altogether. A little patience and research will certainly improve your odds of finding the best home based business for you and your family.

Finding the Ethical Home Based Business

In my experience, which involves wasting thousands of dollars and years of my time just like everyone else out there, I have found several work at home businesses that are honest, ethical, affordable, and realistic. Samsung C3510 Genoa Coming to the UK

Samsung is adding a new device to its Genio line up this April. The Samsung C3510 first debuted in India under the name Corby Pop. As many of you may already know the Corby series is known locally in the UK as the Genio. So far, three of the first Corby phones have made it into their Genio incarnations, the Pro, Touch and QWERTY. An Easy Performance Enhancement

If you’re using the NTFS filing protocol on your system, instead of FAT32, you can get a bit more speed by disabling Windows® Indexing. The downside to this is that searching your drive for a specific file might take a moment or two longer, but everything else should run faster.

To disable this feature open My Computer and then right click on the drive you wish to reset – usually C-drive. Now click on Properties and then uncheck “Allow Indexing Service.” It will take Windows® a few moments to accomplish this task, based on your processor speed. If you have other hard drives, perform the same process for them. After this is done, it’s a good idea to empty the Recycle Bin and then Defragment your hard drive(s).

Windows® XP Professional Only

A feature of Windows® XP Professional, that is not available in the Home Edition, is the ability to encrypt files. This encryption prevents others from opening the files in the folder you encrypt. To encrypt one or more a folders, follow these easy steps.

Click Start, then My Documents. Now locate the folder you wish to encrypt and right click on it and choose Properties.

On the General tab, click on Advanced. Put a tick mark in the box for Encrypt Contents to Secure Data. Click okay two times and the confirmation dialog box will appear allowing you to select the folder, the folder and all files, and/or the subfolders within it.

Now you’ll be able to place files in this folder (or folders) and since they’re encrypted, others will not be able to access them.

Internet Safety

You should never reveal your username or password to anyone who e-mails you and asks for it. This information is frequently asked for by an Internet scheme called “phishing.”

In a common phishing scam, you receive an e-mail that looks quite official. It usually appears to come from a bank or credit card company. A common title for these e-mails is “We need to verify your account information.” Another is “Please logon to your account and verify your settings.” If you do click where instructed, you’ll end up on a site that appears to be the real one. If you fill in the username and password for of your on-line banking account, you can expect serious problems within twenty-four hours.

If you believe that a company or business that you do on-line business with really does require your information, then simply contact them. This way, you will know where you are sending your information, and what it will be used for.

CD Burning Error Fix

Burning music, video, and data CDs has become quite popular over the past few years, and the evolution of the supporting technology has yielded hardware and software that is better than ever – and very reasonably priced. CDs offer a great place to store substantial amounts of data in a small, easily retained format. They also give us new control over aspects of our entertainment.

A relatively common error received during CD burning informs you that the CD cannot be burned, or that there was an error during burning. Of course, you could actually have a defective CD drive, but this is usually not the case.

If you receive a message indicating that your CD cannot be burned, go to the website of your CD drive manufacturer. Look for the list of CD types (manufacturers/numbers) that are compatible with your device. Most often, you’ll find that your CDs are not listed. The two types that seem to have the least difficulty being burned are manufactured by Sony and TDK. These cost a bit more, but they burn very reliably.

Along the same lines – H-P has introduced a new CD burner. This new burner requires the use of special CD blanks, but after you burn your data into the CD, you can flip it over and close the drive again. Then you can use the laser to burn a title for the CD directly onto the CD itself. It’s new technology, but perhaps it will catch on and we’ll see newer, better such devices in the near future.

Nice Guys Can Learn to Get the Girl Too

I’m sure you’re familiar with these women who sound like broken records as they wax poetic about their desire to land a “nice guy”. I especially hear too much of it whenever I happen to flip onto one of these afternoon talk shows: “…But Opal (name of god-like TV talk show host changed to protect my innocent bank account from total destruction), there’s no one out there for me to date — all the guys are such losers. I just want to meet a… nice guy…” Waahhh!

Well, if you consider yourself to be one of these “nice guys” whom these women all claim to be searching for, but you still find yourself striking out with everything other than the very bottom of the food chain, then you must surely know what an enormous load of BS this is. So why do women keep it up with all this mythical nice guy stuff? As usual they are speaking in their own little code, which of course women are famous for doing in order to keep men thoroughly confused I guess.

The problem with being overtly nice or lap-doggishly friendly and accommodating around women is that it communicates the absolute worse possible kind of subliminal message to them about your male status, namely… that’s it’s way down in the dumps somewhere. This is because nice guy behavior is NOT something that women see men as suddenly “switching on” in their presence in some sort of well-meaning but fumbled attempt to impress them. Not at all. Instead, they believe all this nice and sweet behavior is something that you’ve been TRAINED to exhibit by the other, vastly more powerful men in your world. In other words, ‘nice guy’ is how subservient men have learned to act in the presence of stronger men in order to protect themselves. (“I am no

threat to your status as the more dominant male… please don’t hurt me… let me be your harmless, lovable side-kick…” etc.).

To females then, over-the-top niceness is little more than a red flashing signal of Low Male Status, and therefore… an enormous TURN-OFF to them!

It is very difficult for most women to develop any sort of sexual mojo for a squishy nice guy. Nature has hardwired the female brain to seek out the most powerful male in order to produce the strongest offspring with the best chance for survival. It’s the same reason why men have been hardwired to chase after women who display physical signs of youthfulness, which of course indicates reproductive vitality, and ignore old women. And while male and female actions may be different, their GOALS remain the same — strong healthy babies to carry forth the species. “Maleness” and “femaleness” therefore can actually be thought of as two opposite but complimentary STRATEGIES for reproduction.

In the service of these independent tactical requirements, men and women are powerfully compelled to behave in different manners in order to execute these dissimilar strategies upon one another. The dance of mating and seduction in all creatures is linked inseparably to this biological imperative. Go against it and you’re flying in the face of millions of years of evolution… or perhaps its design, who knows? Learn to play by it’s rules however, and you will get your share of mating action!

So to help you out with this very subtle part of the game, here’s my #1 “Nice Guy Rule” for you right now…

While you never want to actually ACT like a fawning nice guy around women… somehow, you always want to SEEM like one. Can you get a sense of what I’m trying to convey here? The problem with being nice is TRYING to be nice in a painfully obvious way rather than just letting it sort of happen. It just ruins your sexy edge to come across as too enthusiastic a nice guy. You only need to drop a few hints here and there using your behavior and attitude that you COULD be one without making too big a deal about it.

See, when women imagine nice guys I think what they’re really dreaming about is a man who makes them feel SAFE — but in a very special sort of way that preserves his sexual attractiveness to them. Actually, this is not all that mysterious when you think about it from the female perspective. To a woman, a safe guy ONLY means that you’re (probably) physically harmless to her. In terms of what you could do to mash up her emotions, well…that’s a completely different story. This blend of hot n’ cold, exciting n’ boring, safe n’ dangerous is what most women are searching for in their relationships with men, at least initially.

So when you first meet a woman that you’re attracted to, you need to establish a few non-verbal lines of communication with her in a way that tends to provoke these first instinctual sorts of connecting-mating thoughts in her subconscious mind. To a lot of women this potential conflict — this suggestion of sexual tension looming out there on the horizon — is the very definition of “chemistry”!

Nice trick you say? Actually it’s not horribly difficult to communicate non-verbally. Two ways in which you can smoothly transmit your possible desire are through extended eye contact — and with the use of brief, non-offensive touches strategically placed here and there. Both casual when done correctly, but unmistakable in their genuine pre-romantic meaning to her!

This is how you can present yourself as a classy nice guy without having the lousy low status male stain ruining it. You can further advance your classy nice guy status by… 1) slipping in suggestions of having strong family-friends relationships — a sign to women that you’re “connected and normal”, or 2) that you have something EXCITING going on in your life — either at work, as a hobby, or perhaps some recent travel adventure of some kind, etc. This makes you seem adventuresome, involved, connected… hey, a really “nice” catch!

Add to this some of that deep eye contact to silently communicate a more-than-just-friendly interest in her, and now you’ve created enough of an edge to get her heart racing! At the very least, this type of behavior will keep you out of the deadly “friends zone” by showing the courage to make your desire apparent to her in a way that cannot be confused with the work of the desperate loser.

For instance, I worked as a pro photographer in the past. Maybe half a dozen to 20 times a year, I got to fly around in light planes shooting aerial pictures around the Western New York area. Now sometimes when I’m chatting up a girl, I’ll work in a quick little anecdote drawn from one of my old flying jobs… like how the snowpack collecting on Lake Erie forms such beautifully colored cracks in the greenish ice sheets during the height of mid-winter, or something semi-poetic like that. What’s the allure of real estate investing? Why are so many people drawn to this field as a means of creating a second income? I think this is so primarily because it is sold as a get rich quick scheme. Have you ever been to a real estate “seminar” where the presenter shows testimonial after testimonial of one of their fix and flip students bringing home a $20,000 paycheck on their first deal or maybe even a $100,000 paycheck? If your answer was no then you have never been to a real estate “seminar.”

These types of presentations abound and they are packed with people, especially during these difficult economic times, who are trying to make money quick in order to get out of debt, restock their lost retirement accounts, or maybe so they can quit their unfulfilling j-o-b. Whatever the reason, so called real estate gurus are making a killing on their systems, charging $2000 to $5,000 for a get rich quick scheme. Like health club memberships, few people ever use them even after they have shelled out the shillings. But these individuals really do need an opportunity to help them recover from whatever economic difficulty it is they are facing and what they heard is that real estate is a great place to do that from some late night infomercial.

I too have been charmed by the fast talking, funny, story-telling salesman who has convinced me to purchase his system so that I too could get rich or die trying. The 2 systems I purchased and kept were the organizing ones, the tracking systems, because it’s hard to organize all these files and reports. They also included comp programs so that I could properly value the properties I was interested in getting rich quick with. Even so, the guru’s website degraded, leaving me without the tool for which I had made the initial investment.

That was a disappointment and a waste of money. The other six systems I purchased were immediately returned within the timeframe allotted because my romance with the speaker ended 24 hours later and I came to my senses and recognized the pitch for what it was-a pitch. I learned something from each guru’s presentation for sure and implemented many ideas gleaned from each but I never got rich quick.

I worked hard and long hours to find the leads, menial work like stamping postcards especially in the beginning. I placed the phone calls at the proper times, evenings and weekends, to try to catch my targets at home. I door knocked and left door hangers. I created and analyzed spreadsheets for good tax lien leads going up for auction, researched 40 homes only to have 2 come up at auction-of course the worst two on the list, which I had no interest in.

I did all of this in a declining California market over the course of the past few years. I have tried hard to get rich quick but there is no such thing in the real estate world. It takes hard, focused work, like anything else. So if you think you are going to get rich quick in real estate, keep going to those seminars, keep buying those systems that are collecting dust on your shelves and keep telling yourself one of these days you will figure out how to get rich. In the mean time, keep your day job.
